Aug. 18th - Latino Comedy Jam,
Del Rio, TX
That's right, the "Latino" Comedy Jam headlined by Matt
Golightly? I could hardly believe it myself but it was true and
the accommodations proved it. While my fellow comics
James Ponce and Cesar Cervantes shared at a room at the
Super 8, The headliner got his own room at Del Rio's finest,
the Ramada. But all kidding aside the rooms weren't that
diiferent...really...in fact just to prove the point...I made a list:
My doors opened to a hallway, not a parking lot.
My thermostat was on the wall, not on the window unit.
I watched first-run movies on HBO West Coast, their TV
flipper was bolted to a desk.
When I checked in, I got a list of restaurants and local
attractions, they got a list of rules and local emergency
contact numbers.
The nightstand drawer in my room had a phone book and a
Bible in it, their's had some bathtub crank and heroin
spoons. (Just kidding, there wasn't any furniture in their
room.)
